Styling A Faux Leather Mini For Fall

I’ve always loved a good faux leather skirt and exploring the different colors and styles. The last time I wore a faux leather skirt was last winter and I was excited to explore this style again. I had the opportunity to choose a couple of looks from the NA-KD website and the first thing that caught my eye was this skirt but I was unsure of what I would style it with. I knew I wanted a loose-fitting blouse that I could easily tuck into the skirt. So I decided to go with this blouse and I think it worked pretty well. What I love about this top is that not only is it loose but the bow details are gorgeous! I absolutely love the high neck and the tie at the nape and on the sleeves. The skirt itself is quite comfortable – the material is soft and it allows freedom of movement. The mustard color represents fall so it was a no-brainer deciding on this shade.Since it’s boots season, I styled the look with these OTK boots which easily pulled the look together for me. I also went with my leopard print clutch, another perfect match.

Going Gingham With Gray Monroe

Happy Monday and happy Columbus Day! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I myself took it pretty easy for a change. It rained yesterday which is always a blessing because it forces me to do less. So let’s get right into it. How cute is this dress? This is my second gingham print and I love it! This dress fits me like a glove and I love love love the trumpet sleeves? They add such a nice touch to the silhouette. The clutch is from Valerie Constance and I can’t begin to tell you how great the quality of this clutch is. The leather is extremely smooth and the inside has the softest lining. I actually had some of my coworkers stick their hand inside to feel it, and of course the tassel makes it even more appealing. Red Frill Dress Worn Two Ways + Reality Check

Happy Monday!

Sometimes I think it’s important to take a step back and do a reality check. Lately, I’ve been going non-stop as if my life depended on it – not taking care of myself and not giving my family the attention they deserve. I was at burnout point and what do you think happened as a result? I got sick. I mean it was a cold but I never get colds so that in itself was inevitable. When the body can’t keep up, it shuts down. So these are the things that I do know:

Working 5 days a week, commuting back and forth to the city is a killer, physically and emotionally. I’m still having a hard time adjusting.
There is little to no time to catch up with the family and catch up on your own life after a long day of work.
Two days in a weekend is not enough to catch up on everything you need to do.
I go to bed late and wake up early so I am ALWAYS tired.
I miss spending quality time with my family.

I have been going with the flow so much that on the weekends, I do not want to move but I do. But I don’t do things that are enjoyable like take little trips with my family. So this weekend, whether they wanted to or not, I encouraged the hubs and kiddos to go apple picking. Granted, it was one hour away but that’s okay. I looked at it as a day trip which we hadn’t done in a while. I’m so glad we went because we had a great time! Fresh picked apples are the only apples I can really eat, so every year, I try to make the trip. To me, it’s just a fun day away from home.

I began to reflect on my life during this long drive and realized that there are a few things that will need to change if I want to keep my sanity and to avoid burnout.

I will continue to take breaks from social media. That is a must for me because it is truly a time suck.
I will make more time for my family and work at incorporating game nights and movie nights back into our routine.
I will not let my 9-5 control my life. I refuse to do so.
I will try my best to develop a better sleep routine. I have been trying this for years but have failed everytime. As I’m writing this, I probably should be sleeping but I feel the need to write this down.
I will plan more day trips with my family and enjoy life as much as possible. Life is way too short to get bogged down with BS.

I will hold myself accountable for all these intentions and my goal is to follow through with them.

This beautiful red dress that I’m wearing is from NA-KD. I love the high neck frill detail and the tie at the nape. The bodice of the dress is see-through so I wore it with a camisole underneath especially since I wore it to work.

What I Wore For NYFW SS ’18

What’s your motivation for getting dressed for NYFW? Is it to be seen or are you okay with just blending into the background? When I attended fashion week last September and again in February, I was extremely unprepared and had no idea how to dress. So, I made the decision to just blend into the background and focus on the shows. This year however, I decided to stand out not in a huge way but in a way to make an impression. For attendees of NYFW, standing out can be as much as wearing bold colors and that’s exactly what I did. Well, except for the first day.

On Day 1, I chose a black and white look with metallic mules. This top I just love because of the flare sleeves and the open back. Since it was a bit on the cool side that day, I didn’t want to leave my back completely open because who wants to get sick on day 1? So, I wore a black tube top for a little extra coverage.

On Day 2, I wore this bold pink suit which was recommended to me by a stylist at my local Nordstrom store. I basically hung out in the Topshop section of Nordstrom and was inspired by all the great styles that were available. The bodysuit that I wore underneath was a little big on me so I ended up just letting my bra skim the top. I just went with it, ya know. One thing that was awesome was that I was photographed by street photographers wearing this suit. 🙂

On Day 3, which was Saturday, I wore this beautiful striped dress, also from Topshop via Nordstrom. It is by far one of my favorite dresses to date. I love the way it drapes and I love the sleeves and the knot-front. I basically felt like a boss lady in this dress. I paired with this Brahmin handbag that I received at an event and nude sandals.

By Day 4, I was tuckered out and tired of wearing heels so I opted for flat mules and this striped jumpsuit from Asos. It was the most comfortable outfit that I could run around in all day. I’m sure you’ve noticed that the yellow handbag has made quite a few appearances, that’s because it adds such a great pop of color. You can shop it here from the Zara website. 🙂

Summer’s Not Quite Over Yet | Swimwear With Rosegal

Thank goodness that summer is still lingering. It is by far my favorite season and I’m so not looking forward to the cold. It was a gorgeous 85 degrees so the family and I took full advantage of the warm weather and took a trip to the beach. It was so nice to just lie down and relax while the kids played in the sand. The great thing about going to the beach in the off-season also is that it’s super quiet and you have plenty of room to spread out.

I wore this bikini set from Rosegal which I thought I would never get a chance to wear since it was getting so cold already. When I saw it on the site, I thought it would be perfect for going on a beach vacation because of the pattern and the ruffles are super cute. It’s a cute suit but I do think it’s a bit big for me.

I also chose this super cute coverup with pom pom details on the back and crochet on the front. Totally makes me want to go on vacation so I can keep wearing it. 🙂 Would it be too much if I wore it as a top? I’m really tempted.

The “blanket” is more like a scarf so it’s not something that I would use at the beach seeing as how I had to hold it down so it wouldn’t fly away. But maybe I could use it as a wrap in the future.
