Who says florals are only for spring? To be honest, I did think that at one time. But lately, I’ve been seeing so many beautiful floral dresses for fall that I just can’t resist. Take this & Other Stories floral dress for instance – what a colorful, fun way to celebrate fall? The floral print on this dress and the bold colors are such a refreshing change! The button down detail is such a nice touch as well so you can button all the way down or show a little leg for an edgier look.

Classic OOTD + Tips to Get Through Allergy Season

Am I the only one who wishes they could hibernate – I mean literally remain hidden until allergy season is over? When I tell you that my allergies make me feel like I want to die, I’m not kidding. This is THE worst time of the year for me and makes me wish for winter to come back or crave for summer to arrive. As much as I love to see the trees bloom, I dread the pollen that follows. Seeing that green dust on cars is my worse nightmare.

I get it all, the sneezing, stuffy nose, sore throat and itchy red watery eyes. It makes me want to stay in bed all day. But, because that’s not possible and life has to go on, I’ve learned of ways to cope with allergies. Below are some tips that could maybe help you if you’re an allergy sufferer like me.

#1 Clean your house top to bottom. Dust affects your allergies and makes things a lot worse.

#2 Take an allergy medicine that contains a decongestant as soon as you wake up in the morning, like Claritin D or Allegra D.

#3 Use a nasal spray that contains a steroid like Zyrtec, Flonase or Nasonex. The nasal spray really should be used on a daily basis way before allergy season but I always forget. 🙁

#4 Use eye drops as soon as you wake up as well so that you don’t start rubbing your itchy eyes. I currently use Bausch & Lomb eye allergy drops or Zaditor. Both work great!

#5 At night, take something that will help you sleep and prevent sneezing and runny nose. I take Nyquil but I just discovered that Benadryl came out with a decongestant version so I will be trying that out.

#6 Remove your clothing as soon as you get in the house and put them in the wash.

#7 Wash your face and hands frequently and avoid rubbing your eyes.

I’ve gotten advice to try taking raw honey every day, months before allergy season. I started doing this since January but ufortunately, it didn’t help me. I’m still suffering.

I’m so sad to say that my yourgest son inherited my allergies. I feel so bad for him because since he’s a kid there’s only so much medication we can give him. Our goal is to find a homeopathic doctor who can help us with alternative methods to help deal with the allergies.

I hope these tips above will help you cope as well.

Black and White Outfit With A Pop

This bag is a little more on the pink side but you know what I mean. Also, I’m all about the sleeves on this top. Accentuate Your Feet With Red – Zappos x Naturalizer

So you have a typical black and white outfit and you’re sick of wearing black shoes to match. You crave a little color. Birthday Celebration + 1 Important Lesson I’ve Learned This Year

Though my birthday was earlier this month, I’m still celebrating because why not? No, I’m not going around announcing that it’s my birthday month but inside I’m relishing being born in the month of April and being an Aries. This birthday was pretty special because I got to spend it with my blogger bestie Mary (layersofchic.com). Last year, we both discovered that we share the same birthday – April 6th. How cool is that?! We decided to celebrate in style by having a few friends join us for brunch at Cafe Medi in downtown Manhattan.

The food was delicious and the company was wonderful.

Mary and I both wore bird print dresses to match the decor of the restaurant, of course, (that was Mary’s idea). My dress was from my favorite shopping site ASOS, linked here. (Click here for Mary’s dress). I wore the dress with silver booties which I found last minute on Amazon. These booties are super stylish and so comfortable, I was able to walk around in them for hours! I completed the outfit with this very stylish Brahmin bag. I just love the shape and color of this bag!

So, now that I’m a year older, I’d like to share one thing important thing that I’ve learned over the past year.

1- Do not voice everything that comes into your head! I’m a pretty blunt and observant person. I notice things that others don’t and sometimes I cannot refrain from saying something about what I’m observing. I’ve learned that not everything needs to be voiced especially when I’m at work. I’m learning to be more sensitive to people’s feelings and to become a better listener. Okay, that’s probably 3 things right there but the important thing is that I’m learning.

On Trend: Paperbag Waist Culottes

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I know that us New Yorkers relished in the warmth on Saturday until the temperature miraculously dropped again. But it was good while it lasted, right? Since spring is so elusive these days, the family and I try to get out while we can when the temperature spikes. So, we spent the day at the park and it was amazing the amount of people who were out. It was wonderful!

Now, let’s get to the good stuff. I love shopping at Asos and Boohoo because I find the most amazing pieces and at affordable prices. Take these pants for instance, I found them on the Boohoo site and I just couldn’t take my eyes off them. Of course, it’s always a crap shoot when shopping online because you never know how a certain piece will fit but it’s like these pants were made for me. I totally love them! The material is a nice, lightweight cotton and the rust color is just so perfect for spring. Not only that, they only cost $20! Score!

I chose a white button down from Asos to wear with it because, of course, you don’t want to hide this amazing paper bag waist detail. How awesome is the circle belt too? Now, Asos has the best button downs in my book. They carry so many different styles – my preference are the statement sleeve shirts. This particular one is a Mango brand which is another favorite place of mine to shop. I have the sleeves of this shirt rolled up but it has the prettiest sleeve with 5 buttons and the slightest of a balloon puff. Click here to check it out.
