The weekend is finally here and I’m so looking forward to spending it with my family. Tomorrow (8/1/15), starts the first day of my 3-month no shopping challenge. I will coin it “3MNSC.” Lol. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I will make it through the 3 months without purchasing clothing. It’s all window shopping and closet shopping from here on out. Wish me luck!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend. This weekend was spent picnicking in Central Park with friends and family. The weather was perfect and the energy was so alive. I hope everyone is ready to embrace this week and tackle new goals.
Here’s an outfit inspiration for when you just feel like wearing black. Although black can sometimes seem dreary especially in the summer months. It doesn’t have to be. Why not spruce up your ensemble with a splash of color?
Here I added a colorful scarf to add a little oomph to an otherwise bland outfit. Did you know that color can also brighten the mood? So when you’re feeling down, add a splash of color. It can work wonders. Cheers! 🙂
It’s a scorcher here today in NYC and I’m doing all can I can to stay cool. On a day like today, your pores can become clogged from perspiration especially for those of us who wear makeup. Today, I want to share with you what I do to exfoliate my skin, unclog my pores and keep my skin glowing.
Honey, Lemon and Sugar Scrub
Honey
Honey serves as a great moisturizer and with it’s antibacterial properties, it helps to reduce skin problems such as acne. It has loads of antioxidants which is good for wrinkles. It also clarifies the skin by opening up and unclogging the pores.
Lemon
Lemon helps to diminish scars and age spots. It also has antibacterial properties which helps to clear up acne and prevent future breakouts. Lemon juice is also a natural exfoliant and acts a gentle skin peel that removes the top layer of dead skin cells.
Sugar
Sugar (I use brown sugar) is an easy way to remove dead skin cells by acting as a scrub. It serves as a natural exfoliant due to it’s small particles. It’s used in many body scrubs to exfoliate dead skin cells which leads to healthy, glowing skin.
What you will need:
1-2 tbs of raw sugar
1 tsp of honey
1/2 to 1 tsp of lemon depending on how thick or thin you want the scrub.
Mix ingredients together until it forms a paste. Apply to skin moving in circular motions until entire face is covered. Leave on for 10-15 mins and wash with warm water. Your skin should feel soft and smooth.

I have nothing to wear!
How many times have you said this while standing in front of your closet? Is this really so? You have a plethora of outfit combinations staring you in the face and you have nothing to wear? Well, I must say that I go through this almost on a nightly basis and then I feel the urge to go online to order that cute top that I saw earlier or that cute skirt, or that really cool necklace that I may wear only once, etc etc. So how do I remedy this?
Well, I’ve come up with this challenge. Dun dun dun…
I challenge myself to not purchase any clothing or accessories for 3 months beginning August 1st and will wear only the clothes that are currently in my possession. I will take a photo of the outfits that I wear each day and will post an update on day 15 and day 30 each month regarding my progress.
What I hope to gain from this challenge?
1) A different perspective on my wants versus my needs.
2) Since I can easily spend up to $1,000/month on clothing or unnecessary stuff, I expect to see some extra pocket change at the end of the 3 months.
3) This is my very first challenge and it will be a tough one so by the end of this, I will come out a little stronger and with the confidence that I can actually challenge myself to be better.
So, there it is!

This summer my goal was to find a swimsuit that would cover up trouble areas like my tummy while still being flattering. Let’s be honest, a six pack is hard to come by when you’re juggling a full-time job and two kids. So I searched high and low and, alas, I found a Jessica Simpson Monokini from Macys.com and decided to order it. When I received it in the mail, my first reaction was wow this is really pretty and when I tried it on, I thought, this is gorgeous! But, *sigh* it sagged a little in the midsection and no matter how much I tried to adjust it, it just didn’t fit right (a small is really a medium and it doesn’t come in XS). So I had to face reality and return it. So back to the store it went. 🙁
Nevertheless, I kept searching and found the Becca by Rebecca Virtue halter bikini online at Bloomingdales. it was really pretty online and so I said what the hey and went ahead and ordered it. Well, all I can say is that the photo online did not do it justice. The colors are more vibrant in person and it is definitely flattering. Albeit to say, I’m still showing my tummy but I’ll just have to suck it in, suck it in (in a singsong voice) so that I can wear this gorgeous swimsuit.
