Happy Monday!

This past weekend I was able to spend a girl’s weekend in East Hampton, NY. That meant no kids, no husband. :-0 Although I missed my family, I must say I had a wonderful time hanging out with just the girls. As soon as I arrived there, my sister and I went to a restaurant called the Bay Kitchen Bar for their happy hour consisting of $1 oysters and $5 Rosé wine. It was such a cool spot by the water and the restaurant was light, airy and welcoming. We drank, we ate and we shared laughs. After that, we headed home to welcome another guest to the house and then we ate and drank some more. 🙂

The next day, we jumped in the pool, then headed to the beach and once we got home, we jumped right back into the pool. I love summer! That night we had guests over for dinner which we ate poolside.

So basically, the entire weekend consisted of eating, drinking, pool, beach and more pool. We shared lots of laughs and spent quality time together bonding.

Hi! Stopping by to say a quick hello since I will be traveling tomorrow and I won’t be able to post. I’d like to share an outfit that was featured by Brenna of chicstreetstyle.me. I actually found this dress on one of her instagram posts and ordered it after receiving the order information through liketoknow.it. (Yes, I ordered it before I started my 3MNSC). The dress came within a few days and I fell in love with it right away. I love the fact that Chic Street Style features outfit ideas for all budgets and tastes. August (sigh)

Am I the only one who’s disappointed that August is already here and it’s getting closer and closer to September? Do you feel pressed for time as if you need to cram in every summer activity known to man before the cold weather creeps in? Well I am! Summer is my all time favorite season and its when I feel my happiest and most free – free from layers and winter boots (lol). So, I’ve dedicated each weekend to doing something outdoors from now until it gets cold. I’ve been quite successful in doing so all summer and I will continue as long as the weather is warm. This weekend will be a quick trip to the Hamptons with my sister and I’m so looking forward to it.

Here is a snippet of my ootd. I decided to go with a relaxed look by pairing a pair of Banana Republic patterned ankle jeans with a neutral Gap top and yellow and taupe Calvin Klein flats.

Melaleuca Oil

Today, I’d like to share a little tip with you about an essential oil that I use on a regular basis called Melaleuca, also known as tea tree oil.

Melaleuca oil (Melaleuca alternifolia, or more commonly known as tea tree) has been used for centuries by cultures around the world to soothe and heal. The oil is steam-distilled from the leaves of certain myrtle shrubs and trees, and said to be 12x the purifying strength of phenol.

Melaleuca oil is applied to the skin (used topically) for infections such as acne, fungal infections of the nail (onychomycosis), along with other fungal infections. It is also used topically as a local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions, for burns, insect bites and stings, boils, vaginal infections, recurrent herpes labialis, toothache, infections of the mouth and nose, sore throat, and for ear infections such as otitis media and otitis externa.

How I use Melaleuca oil:

Since melaleuca oil is great for the skin especially those suffering from acne, I use it on my face on a nightly basis. Over time, it has effectively diminished the appearance of acne scarring and blemishes. My 8-year old son also runs for it every time he gets a cuts or a bruise and it heals it very quickly.

Good Eats!

Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Bryant Park Grill with friends and coworkers. For those of you who’ve never been to Bryant Park Grill, it’s a fabulous setting in Manhattan, NY for eating out in the summer. The restaurant is located in the heart of Bryant Park which comes with its own excitement. We headed over at about 5pm and the park was bustling with people. There was a group playing ping pong, there were people getting ready for a group yoga class on the lawn and there were people sitting about playing chess or conversing with each other; and then you had your regular people watchers.

Once we walked into the restaurant, we headed up to the rooftop lounge for cocktails and appetizers.

About 45 minutes later, we headed back down to the restaurant for dinner. One thing that I noticed at first glance, is that they changed the decor of the dining area. It was a lot more colorful than when I was there last spring. I was told that it was updated in August of 2014. The color was red and purple chairs with white table linen. The color scheme gave it a happy them, perfect for the summer.

Once we were seated, we ordered drinks and a mixture of appetizers which included oysters and calamari.

For dinner, I ordered the Bryant Park Sea Grill which consisted of lobster, scallops and shrimp over saffron tomato rice with lemon butter sauce. It was delicious.

For dessert, I had chocolate creme brulee with coconut shavings and dulce de leche ice cream.
