Lush Love and Light hand cream and Snowcake soap – I received these as Christmas gifts and I absolutely love them! They smell amazing and leave my skin feeling so soft and smooth. The hand cream has a fresh pleasant scent without being overwhelming.

Lush Bath Bomb. I’ve yet to use this but it smells amazing!

The Body Shop Frosted Plum Body Butter – I purchased this butter for $5 during the holidays because my 9-year old needed lotion for his hands. Hee hee. How is it that I never tried these butters? They’re amazing! I’ve used this butter everyday since I’ve had it and I love it! I was so used to using body lotions from Bath & Body Works that I never bothered with the Body Shop. This butter smells great and it lasts all day! For the past few days, people have been telling me how great I smell. Love it! 🙂

Alex and Ani ‘Apple of Abundance’ Bangle – this bangle seems pretty fitting seeing that I plan on having an abundant year. This is actually my wish to everyone this year. This bracelet will be a constant reminder of my goals for 2016.

Dove Dry Spray – I recently received these from Influenster and my hubby and I are loving them. I don’t usually use spray deodorants but I actually like this one. It has a fresh scent and keeps me feeling dry. Best thing, it only costs $5.49 so I will definitely be buying this in the future.

Uniqlo lounge pants

Like anyone else when I’m relaxing at home, I like to be comfortable – that’s when I reach for loose fitting clothing that gives me freedom of movement.

I found these lounge pants before the holidays at one of the Uniqlo stores in NY and I must say, to date, they’re the most comfortable lounge pants I own. They’re loose fitting and the material is so soft, and added bonus – they have pockets! They’re by far my favorites for hanging around the house.

At the time of purchase, they were on sale but they’re so worth the price. If you’re looking for a great pair of lounge pants, check them out. I’ve linked them above. I own another pair that are similar to these that I practically live in (my mom actually brought them back from Japan for my birthday). Also another that’s only available in stores so I wasn’t able to link them. So you see, I’m obsessed with Uniqlo lounge pants and wanted to share the love. 🙂

On another note, since it’s starting to get cold out, any advice on taking photos indoors. I hate to use flash but do you think that would be a preferable option? The house gets sunlight but as you can see from the pics above, without using flash, the photos are a little grainy. Any suggestions?

How I spent my New Year’s Eve

Happy Monday! It’s time get back to work, isn’t it? 🙁 After being at home for two weeks, it’s so sad thinking about it. Anyway, I wanted to share with you how I spent my New Year’s Eve just to prolong the holidays a bit. 🙂

Many folks go out on New Year’s Eve and party their hearts out while others become disappointed when they make plans and they don’t quite turn out as planned. Others like me stay in and make it a family day.

We were originally supposed to visit my brother and his family in Maryland but I was under the weather and my 6-year old was getting over a cold so we decided to stay back while my mom and sister took the trip as planned.

Honestly, I’m so happy we stayed behind because we needed the time to recoup after having a full house over the Christmas holidays.

We started the day by having a nice brunch. I tried eggs benedict for the first time – it was delish! Then we took the kids to the park so they could run around and let off steam. We wrapped up the night by watching one of my all time favorites “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” How did you spend your New Year’s Eve? Did you stay in or go out?

New Year Goals

Wow, it’s officially 2016. Happy New Year everyone! I’m not one for resolutions but I will definitely set some goals for the new year.

Family – I will continue to nurture my family and be the best wife and the best mom for my two boys. My goal is to continue to give my children as much love and attention as possible and take them out for an activity of their choice at least once a month.

Friends – schedule time with friends. For the past few months, I have cancelled meetups with friends for some reason or another. I plan on rekindling these friendships and get out more.

Fear – I hold myself back from success due to fear. My mind is my worst enemy. My goal is to meditate more and focus on my goals and what I’m trying to accomplish.

Sleep – My name is Gail and I’m a binge sleeper. I’ll be the first to admit that I have terrible sleeping habits. I go to bed late every night (has anyone noticed that I’ve actually commented on blogs at 1:00 in the morning?) Then on the weekends, I catch up on sleep and wake up late. I’ve always done this and it’s a bad habit that I’m trying so hard to break. Not only is it bad for my overall health but it’s not productive at all. So my goal in 2016 is to work on changing my sleeping habits so that I can get more things done during the day.

Blog – I’ve only been blogging for 5 months now and this blog has grown tremendously in a short period of time. I appreciate all the support that I’ve received and I hope to improve on my content and looking forward to future collaborations and friendships.

WIW: Christmas OOTD

Happy Wednesday! 🙂

I’m in disbelief that the year is almost over. The fact that Christmas has come and gone is unreal to me. The holidays have been pretty good so far but this year has felt different from the rest. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I have to say that I didn’t feel the Christmas spirit as much this year. Could it be because it went by so fast? Or maybe because I didn’t take more days off from work? I’m not sure. I worked from home on Monday and Tuesday and will be off for the rest of the week but now that New Year’s Eve is approaching, I’m feeling a bit ambiguous. I hope that I’ll shake the feeling.

Anyhow, moving on. The outfit above is what I wore on Christmas day. The weather was pretty mild though cloudy but it was nice to be able to go outside without a coat. I realize that I don’t own much red because it’s not one of my most flattering colors so I usually shy away from it. However, to keep with the holiday spirit, I wore red shoes to add a bit of color to a rather basic black and white outfit. It’s been a while since I’ve worn these leather leggings so I was happy to strut around in them. Ha! The earrings were a gift from my sister-in-law and they were a perfect addition – I linked a similar pair below. The top that I’m wearing was actually purchased at the Gap but I linked a similar one from H&M. The necklace I picked from up Forever 21 a while back and are no longer available.
