There’s something I love about an all grey outfit. Maybe because it’s a shade away from black without having to go all black. Maybe because it goes so well together or maybe because there are so many shades of grey that you can choose from. Whatever the reason, I love grey.

The outfit that I’m wearing is one of my absolute favorites. I’ve never worn this combo together before and I just fell in love with it. This sweater is an oldie but goodie. I’ve had it for quite a few years and I don’t wear it as often as I should and if you’ve read some of my earlier posts like this one, you know how I love a good cowl neck. This sweater is pretty warm so I only wear it on really cold days. These grey jeans are on repeat – definitely one of my faves from Forever 21.

On another note, please excuse any issues that you’ve seen with my blog. Yesterday while updating a post, I lost all the body content. I have no idea how it happened but I’m hoping to have it fixed soon.

I hope everyone is all dug out and staying warm after this snowstorm!

The blanket scarf obsession continues. Here I am with yet another blanket scarf. I mean, can you have enough of these beauties?

I love styling colorful blanket scarves with a simple outfit. Here, I’m wearing my True Religion blue jeans with a Banana Republic silk shirt and threw on the blanket scarf and the red pumps to add color. Such a simple outfit with little effort.

Healthy Smoothie Recipe

Lately, I’ve been craving green vegetables, and what that means to me is that my body is lacking some important nutrients that it’s just not getting. I’ve juiced in the past but what I didn’t like was that most of the fruits or vegetables would get left behind in the juicer so all you got was juice with no guts. My issue with that is that I felt that a lot of the “good” stuff, meaning the vitamins and nutrients from the fruits and veggies, were being wasted.

So, I decided to try something different and make a fruit and vegetable smoothie instead. We got the Nutri system over the summer and my husband was the only one using it to make fruit smoothies. It took me a while to figure out that I could make a fruit and vegetable smoothie as well. That way I could get my daily serving of both fruits and vegetables. I’m not one for replacing meals with juice but I will drink it in addition to a small meal. Here’s a recipe that my husband and I recently tried and loved.

I didn’t follow this recipe to the letter so these are approximate measurements. You can adjust to your liking.

Ingredients (yields 4 cups – 32ozs)

2 cups stemmed Kale

3 Carrots

1 cup Spinach

1/4 Ginger

1 Ripe Banana

1 Granny Smith Apple

1/2 cup Pineapple

1 cup Orange Juice

I juiced the carrots separately to avoid excessive pulp but realized later that this step was not necessary because the actual Nutri Ninja accessory takes care of that. You’ll see what I mean later.

Combine all ingredients in Nutri blender.

Below we’re adding the carrots that we juiced separately.

Puree the ingredients until smooth (about 1 minute).

The juice was still a little too pulpy so my hubby used the single serve Nutri Ninja accessory to puree it even more. P.S. This would have taken care of the carrots that I juiced separately. 🙂

We then transferred the mixture to mason jars and, voila, a delicious fruit and vegetable smoothie!

Going Against The Grain – Winter White Coat

I’ve always wanted a white coat but white as outerwear is not really practical, is it? Most people go for darker colors because it makes more sense. Dirt and stains don’t show up so easily on dark colors and you really don’t have to wash it as often. But, I dared to be different and go against the grain. It was time for a new coat because the feathers in the coat that I’ve had for 4 years are shedding so much that there’s not much padding left (it’s the same brand as this one – not on purpose). I didn’t want to start adding ridiculous layers just to stay warm so I had to upgrade. I got this Laundry by Shelli Segal coat on sale at Nordstrom Rack and fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. The funny thing is that I tried on so many other coats and found this one on the floor because it had fallen off the hanger. 🙂 Once I tried it on, I put all the others back and went right to the checkout line.

This coat is amazingly warm and, get this, it has two fur trims! One on the collar and one on the hood AND they’re removable! The fur on the collar keeps my neck so warm that I don’t need to wear a thick scarf with it. It’s attached by button loops so they can be easily removed.  The fur-trimmed hood, which is attached by a zipper, frames my face so well that it keeps the wind at bay. So, depending on the temperature, you can opt to go with or without the collar or the hood. 🙂 The lining of the coat also is leopard print which adds a nice detail to the coat.

The boot cuffs that I’m wearing in the photos are a great addition for keeping the legs warm. It was about 26 degrees when these photos were taken and it was sooo windy. But the coat, combined with the boot cuffs kept me so warm! The coat and boot cuffs are both linked below.

Happy Monday!

Now, I usually shy away from tight-fitting dresses because I prefer to keep a little something to the imagination. Not that I’m the most curvaceous person but I think that tight dresses shows off even the slightest curve on any body type.

However, when I saw this dress at Forever 21 and tried it on, I fell in love with it. I love the fact that it has the shirring in the midsection to help hide the bulge (let’s be honest, a six-pack is not easy to come by!) I also love the faux wrap style of the dress. It took some time for me to wear it because I wanted to find something to throw on over it. That’s when I found this great shawl collar cardigan, also at Forever 21. Not only does the cardigan provide the right amount of coverage that I need but it’s also warm and so soft!

To finish the look, I added these oh-so-comfortable over-the-knee boots, brown patterned tights and light green necklace.
