“Lisa in Iced Coffee” by Evy’s Tree

I hope everyone’s summer is off to a good start! This is definitely my favorite time of year. It’s the time of summer BBQ’s, beach/pool activities, vacations and just good ole summertime fun! My family and I love to go to the beach during the summer but we usually wait until the evening when the sun is not so hot and when the beaches aren’t so crowded. We also love having family BBQ’s until late into the night.

Though most nights are warm, there are nights after the sun goes down that the temps begin to drop. That’s when you’ll need to throw on a sweater to stave off the cooler winds. This is when a cardigan such as the one I’m wearing comes in handy. Evy’s tree released this hooded cardigan called “Lisa in Iced Coffee” yesterday and asked me to help them celebrate it’s release. The quality of this cardigan is amazing and the neutral color can be worn with practically anything. It’s weighty which proves to me that it will last for a really long time. It’s also super warm but not so thick to make you overly hot and I love the fact that it has pockets! It’s sure to take you straight into the fall season and well into the winter months. How To Take Your Outfit From Basic To Chic

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that you made that special man in your life feel extra special for Father’s Day.

Let me start off by saying that I appreciate all of my readers and followers and I feel so blessed to be able to interact with all of you. I feel that lately my style has been evolving and it’s due to all the all the inspiration around me. There are times when I have no idea what to wear to work and I will turn to Pinterest or instagram to get ideas. My friend recently told me about “capsule wardrobe” on Pinterest and it has been such a great tool. It teaches you how to take outfits from your closet to the next level. If you haven’t checked this out yet, I totally recommend it, especially if you feel stuck! Simply enter “capsule wardrobe” into the search field and it will bring up tons of results.

Now, let’s talk about taking an outfit from basic to chic. It can be as easy as adding jewelry, your favorite scarf, a sweater or jacket, or even your favorite pair of shoes. Today, I want to share with you how I dressed up this basic dress.

Adding a statement scarf

I ordered this dress from Romwe (my first time ordering from them) and when I first tried it on, I thought it was pretty but a little plain. I loved the style of the dress and the color is a gorgeous blue but there wasn’t much to it. So I thought, “how I could spice it up?” I rifled through my closet and found a scarf that I’ve had for ages but have never worn. Isn’t it great when you find something old and it’s as if it’s brand new? I tried wearing the scarf in a few different ways but settled on a single knot at the center of my chest and I loved the results.

So, now a simple dress is not so simple.

Add a pop of color

Since I knew that I was wearing the dress to work, I had to think about the air conditioning during my commute and in the office. So I took it a step further and grabbed a yellow sweater because I knew it would stand out perfectly against the blue of the dress and the colors of the scarf. I loved how the sweater totally transformed the look and brightened up the entire outfit.

Now a basic outfit has been transformed!

Swimwear with Adore Me

It’s that time of year again when everyone is gearing up for the warm weather and summer getaways and that means time to break out those swimsuits. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect one-piece bathing suit and have not been able to find the perfect one until Adore Me came along.

If you haven’t heard of Adore Me, they’re an online retailer specializing in intimate wear. You can sign up for a monthly membership where as a VIP, you get your first set for $24.95 and then pay $39.95/month after that. A great thing about Adore Me is that their sizes run from petite to plus size so there’s something for everyone.

I can’t tell you how in love I am with this suit. The fit is perfect (I’m wearing a size small) and the color in my opinion is perfect for my skin tone. I love the overall style of the suit with the black piping and the floral pattern. The suit has removable soft cups as well as removable halter straps. My friend who took my photos purchased the same suit the same day because she loved it so much!!! I already know that it will be on repeat this summer! You can check it out here !

I also received the white swimsuit coverup which was just the icing on the cake for me. I adore this coverup. The material is light and airy and since it’s a buttondown, it’s guaranteed to keep you warm on cooler evenings. You can wear the sleeves rolled up as I am with the button closure or you can wear it as long sleeve. Weekend Wear: Denim Vest + LBD – 2 Ways

It’s amazing how certain styles make their way back after many years. Above, I styled this little black dress with a neckerchief/bandana that I’ve had since high school! I used to wear this on my head back in the day! I have a few of these scarves and I’m so happy that I kept them all! Haha. Above, I styled a little black dress that I purchased from H&M recently, with a GAP denim vest and my trusty Converse sneakers. I’m not a big sneaker wearer and I’ve had these babies for many years now and they still look brand spanking new. Sometimes, I love playing around with different looks and I had a lot of fun with this one. This is such a fun weekend look that is super easy to put together. I can’t seem to find the dress online but I swear it’s in the stores. However, I did link similar styles below.

If you’re not a big sneaker wearer like me and a neckerchief is just not your thing, then opt for sandals and a statement necklace or a delicate one like the one I’m wearing. The look above is one that you would definitely find me in on the weekend. Either that, or I’m wearing denim shorts, haha.

White Halter Maxi Dress

I’m a little late with this post but I hope everyone had a great long weekend and hopefully no one had to work. This weekend was pretty fast-paced for us. First off, it was my little one’s 7th birthday on Saturday, 5/28 and the hubs and I took him to play laser tag with friends followed by lunch and then back at the house to cut the cake. Have you ever been in a car with screaming kids? Whoo boy! But, we got through it and the little guy was so happy and that’s all that matters.

On Sunday, we tried to get in a photoshoot (didn’t love the photos so that was a bust), followed by errands and then the beach. The day started out so warm and sunny but but on our way to the beach, the sky became so overcast followed by fog and the temperature dropped. We were like, “what happened to the sun?” Nevertheless, since we were already headed in that direction, we continued with our plans and enjoyed the beach for a bit (the kids loved this most of all, I was mostly cold).

Now, I’ve been meaning to get this post up for a while now but you know, things happen so better late than never. This particular photoshoot was a special one because it was different. I’ve wanted to do a beach shoot for some time now and my friend graciously agreed to help me out with it. I knew that I wanted to wear a white dress so I found this beach halter dress on Amazon and it was exactly the look I was going for. Along with the floral crown purchased at H&M, I created the perfect beach shoot and I totally felt like a princess. I didn’t have an official wedding myself so what a perfect way to create a dream beach wedding look? Not only is it the perfect look for a summer beach wedding but also for a white wedding where all the guests wear white. You know, like the ones in the Dominican Republic (I’ve always wanted to go to one of those).
