Hello Lovelies!

It’s Wednesday and I finally feel like I’m caught up after last week’s craziness! I feel really good this week, ya’ll. I had my 5th and final knee injection yesterday. For those of you not in the know, I’ve been getting weekly Supartz injections for my knee due to arthritis. Dance injuries and two knee surgeries on the same knee finally took its toll. However, after injection #4, I started feeling better. This fifth one though…whoo! I wanted to curse bloody hell! It was the most painful one, but I got through it and now I’m just happy that it’s over and praying that the knee will gradually feel better and better. Thank you for all the well wishes on IG. 🙂

Now, let’s talk about these leggings. They’re called the Ramone Coated Legging courtesy of Yummie by Heather Thompson. If you haven’t heard of Yummie by HT, it was founded by Heather Thompson, who funny enough was one of the cast of the Real Housewives of New York City in 2012. Yummie by HT is known for it’s athleisurewear – clothing that you can feel comfortable wearing at home or at the gym. They also carry undergarments, breathable tanks, leggings with built in shaping, and jeans. You can visit their site here to see their complete line or follow them on instagram @yummiebyht.

The quality of these leggings are unbelievable and are super comfortable. Since they’re coated, they have the look of skinny pants (what we would call treggings) so they can be dressed up or down. They also have such pretty detailing which helps for a dressier look. You can view them here.

I chose to wear the leggings with an Old Navy split back tank and block-heeled sandals but it can be worn with just about anything – from a t-shirt with sneakers to flat sandals. The tank is sold out but I’ve tagged a similar style below. I picked up the bracelet that I’m wearing on my vacation in Jamaica. Have you ever regretted not buying something while on vacation in another country and then there’s no way to go back and get it? Ugh! That’s how I feel right now because I wish I had picked up a few more bracelets. They were all so pretty! I guess this will be an excuse to go back. Hee hee.

Princess Vibes/Two-Piece Dress x The Shopping Bag

Happy Monday Loves!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Last week for me was real. After coming back from vacation in Jamaica, it was basically go, go, go! I went back to work the next day and you all know how difficult it is not having a rest day in between. I have been exhausted all week. Therefore, there was a lack of posts last week because I basically did not have it in me. I tried my best to keep up with everyone on IG and Twitter so at least it didn’t seem like I fell off the grid. The weekend was wonderful, however, I got some rest and had a great time with the kids and my sister in the pool, and having water balloon fights – lol. If you follow along on Snapchat (@Simplygailg), you can catch my latest shenanigans. 🙂

Nevertheless, I have been enjoying everyone’s posts and I do plan on catching up on blogs this week.

Now, question for you. What makes you feel beautiful? How often do you really get to dress up and feel like a princess? When you look in the mirror, do you say to yourself “I’m beautiful?” If you answered positively to all these questions, then you’re ahead of the game. We don’t all feel beautiful all the time and that’s only natural but we do need to feel it all the time even if we’re not having such a great day. This is so important for our self-esteem and is such a confidence booster. Each time we look in the mirror, we should see beauty both inside and out. We need to love ourselves enough to embrace our flaws and accept ourselves for who we are.

Which takes me to this two-piece dress. It did just that for me…it made me feel like a princess. I had the opportunity of collaborating with The Shopping Bag and when I saw this dress, I had to have it. It did take quite some time for me to get this post up because when I first received the dress, both the top and bottom were too small for me. I ordered a small which is my normal size but unfortunately it runs pretty small and I had to exchange it for a medium. So, if you’re interested in ordering this dress, size up.

The dress features a crop top with a high-waisted skirt with pink petal appliqué over the entire dress. The look of the dress is just darling – I am so in love with it. It’s perfect for a formal event such as a wedding or an evening cocktail party. An especially great thing about this dress is because of the high-waist, it is extremely flattering for those of us who are still working on that six-pack, hee hee.

TRIBAL PRINT MAXI SKIRT x SHEIN

Happy 4th!

I hope everyone is having a relaxing day and is able to spend the time with family and friends. My family and I spent the weekend with my brother and his family in Maryland and had a great time. On Saturday, the day was gorgeous so we spent the day at the beach and had a family BBQ back at the house. However, on Sunday it rained so we spent the day indoors and we decided to head back to New York early this morning.

The outfit below is what I wore on Saturday for our BBQ. The maxi skirt linked here was sent to me as a part of a collaboration with Shein, and let me start by saying that I purchase items from Shein all the time and I love their clothing. They sell the trendiest items at such an affordable price. However, this is the first bottom I’ve ever tried from them. My first impression was that the skirt was pretty and the colors were vibrant. However, the skirt is super long and because I didn’t want to to go through the hassle of exchanging it for something else, I found a way to work with it. So I folded down the top of the skirt and wore a tank with a side knot to give it a funkier look. I must point out that Shein encourages customers to read the measurements before placing an order and since I didn’t bother to do that, I’m stuck with a skirt that is too long. Whomp whomp! So with that being said, this skirt is perfect if you’re on the taller side. The material is good quality and one positive is that you don’t have to iron it. It also has a drawstring which makes it a one size fits all (well except for the length issue). Have you shopped for bottoms from Shein, how is their sizing? I’m curious to know since I would love to try more of their skirts. Let me know in the comments below.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today is the first day of the Style Collective Summer challenge and the theme is off-the-shoulder! Though the dress I’m wearing is considered a cold-shoulder dress, I figured it counts as an OTS as well.

This dress is so so comfortable and the material is so soft and lightweight. I purchased it online at Nordstrom Rack on sale for under $17.Can you believe it? It’s the perfect summer dress which I will definitely take on my upcoming mini-vacation to the Caribbean. I’ve tagged the exact dress below plus a few other favorites.

Now, let’s talk about these photos. These pics were taken at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. I’m not one to venture across the river but I’m so happy that I did. This place is breathtaking! My friend convinced to come see this beautiful park and to take a few photos there. The “Empty Sky” memorial (pictured below) honors the 749 people who lived or had ties to New Jersey and were victims during the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11. The victims’ names are also randomly placed on the walls. An important fact is that the twin walls are 210 feet long, the width of each side of  the World Trade Center Towers.

“The memorial invites visitors to literally and metaphorically look toward the empty sky in memory and look forward as a community.”
