“Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.” -Oscar de la Renta
What is fashion to you? Is it having all the latest trends? Is it having designer brands? Is it a mix of vintage with contemporary or are you a “go in the closet and whatever your hand touches” kinda gal? I find that most people have a specific style and even when their style changes, the basics remain the same.
I would define my style as comfortable chic or street chic. I enjoy being trendy but I also like to have money in my pocket so I won’t chase every trend, only the ones that I just can’t do without and still fits within my style. However, my style is ever evolving because I do like to experiment with different looks. Take this one for example. Who knew that I would be walking around the city in lounge wear? Instead of sitting around in the house sipping on hot tea, I set out to turn these two pieces into street wear. As mentioned previously, my first goal is to be comfortable while being stylish at the same time.
Transforming inside clothes to outside clothes
When I first saw this Adoreme camisole and jogger set, the first thing that came to mind is “hey, I can totally wear this outside.” Maybe to run errands, but then I thought why not dress it up! The camisole top in itself is dressy enough to wear as a layer underneath a sweater or jacket and the joggers were good enough to wear as a regular pair of pants albeit a little on the thin side.
So to turn this into a streetwear look, first thing I did was add accessories – I added a Forever 21 choker and layered necklace. Second, I added this Topshop faux leather jacket but a cardigan would work just as well. Third came these heels but you can also substitute for dressy booties or go for a more comfortable look by adding a pair of Converse or Reeboks. So, now I have a street chic look and no one would ever guess that I’m wearing loungewear!
