Faux Fur Statement Vest

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you all had a restful weekend.

What’s that one piece in your closet that makes a statement? For me, it’s this vest. Not only does it  make a statement with the beautiful specks of white and black but it is so incredibly warm. I can wear it under a light coat in 30-degree weather and it keeps me so warm! This one is from Rose Wholesale and I’m super impressed with the quality. The fur is lush and feels so soft against my skin. It has pockets which is a big plus and a hook and eye closure if you ever feel the need to wear it closed. I ordered the small and it fits perfectly so I would say that it’s true to size.

I wore it with a black open back long sleeve shirt that’s an oldie from Banana Republic along with these liquid leggings from Nordstrom. The boots are from Steve Madden (similar here). I finished off the look with a choker from Forever 21 (similar here).

Pleated Midi Skirt

Here’s yet another exploration into my ever-evolving style. You ever get so bored with your clothes that you just want to change things up a bit? Well, that’s me these days.

I’ve been a fan of these pleated skirts ever since the trend came about last year. I’ve admired them in silver and gold which were so perfect for the holiday season. But I’ve also noticed that they come in so many different shades that it’s so hard to choose. In my ongoing collaboration with Rose Wholesale, I jumped at the chance to explore my style with this burgundy pleated skirt. It comes in five beautiful colors including black, green, dark salmon and silver and only costs $21! As difficult as it was to choose (dark salmon was a close second), I went with the burgundy and I’m so happy with my choice. The quality of the skirt is better than expected. The material is faux leather and seems as if it will hold up over time. The burgundy is a rich color and is so pretty in person. I went for a medium (I usually wear small) but honestly I could have gone with a large – they run really small. I always reiterate how important it is to pay attention to the sizing chart when ordering from these companies because you never know with the sizes.

I knew that I wanted to wear the skirt with a black turtleneck (wearing medium) which I also chose from Rose Wholesale and I’m so happy with how the entire outfit turned out.

The faux fur coat from Zaful was the perfect addition to complete this look especially because it was freezing. The coat is currently sold out but I found a similar one here and linked others below.

Faux Fur Coat + Lace-Up Top And Thoughts on Time Management

Before I get into things, let me just gripe for a minute. The photos that I’m sharing with you today were taken in 20 degree weather on a Monday with snow on the ground and can you believe that by Thursday we had 60 degree weather and all the snow had melted? Actually, the snow melted by Wednesday because it rained overnight. Just my luck, right? I was up at the crack of dawn and at that time it was 13 degrees out and there was snow on the ground but such is the life of a blogger, right? In order to succeed, we must make serious commitments despite weather conditions. You hustle hard and in the end, it pays off. Right? Right.

Lately, I’ve been having issues with time management. I can’t seem to keep my head above water these days. I’m currently unemployed but why am I busier now than when I was working full-time? Not to mention my sleep habits, I go to bed late and then I’m either up early the next day or I sleep in too late. I’ve always been this way though, a total binge sleeper – always playing catch up. I know that I need to stick to a schedule but I think that my mind plays tricks on me and tell me that I can’t do it. Sigh. So my goal for 2017 is to change these habits so that I can be more productive. Anyone else experience this? Have any good tips?

Okay, so on to the outfit. I’ve had an ongoing collaboration with Sammy Dress for some time now and it’s a privilege to be able to choose outfits from their site regularly and to be able to experiment with the different pieces they offer.

My style is ever evolving and I love to change it up from time to time. This time around, I decided to go with this faux fur leopard print coat (currently sold out, but found a similar one, here) and this salmon lace-up sweater. The quality of the coat is better than expected and it has become one of my favorite pieces (I’ve already worn it a few times.) The lace-up sweater is also really pretty. It’s a one size fits all and I was nervous about this but I actually like the fit. It’s a bit oversized but not overly so. Who knew that I would be styling these pieces together? My first instinct was to style the coat with an all-black outfit which would totally work but I’ve been wearing so much black lately! It was definitely time to switch it up.

All in all, I’m happy with the way that I styled these pieces together – totally by chance I might add. But I love when I get a new piece and I can go through my closet to find different ways of styling them.

High-low Button Down Dress | Ego Soleil

Happy Monday! I’ve been away from the blog scene for a week but it seems like ages. But I’m back and ready to get things rolling again!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and is ready to take on the New Year.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity of visiting a designer showroom in NYC to check out their S/S 17 clothing line. Ego Soleil is an emerging designer offering edgy designs with pops of color. Their pieces are unique with the right amount of edginess. I was able to try on a few pieces and the one that struck me was this high-low button down dress. It has such great flow with the mix of cotton and the silkier material at the tail of the dress giving it movement. The cut out detail in the back also adds such a nice touch.

Since it was freezing out, I wore it with a long H&M blazer and these leggings that I recently purchased from Nordstrom. Speaking of leggings, these are amazing! Honestly, I’ve been seeing them everywhere and I’ve been looking for a sleek, fitted pair and these are definitely it. I couldn’t be happier with them. They run pretty big so I followed everyone’s advice and sized down to XS.

Also wearing my new favorite Vince Camuto booties which you’ll be seeing quite often (along with the leggings, of course :)).

Faux Fur Loving

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I feel like I’ve been wasting my week – going to bed late and waking up late is definitely not a productive way to spend one’s holiday week. So, since I’ve rested enough, today I am up early and I’m taking the kids into the city to have some fun. I hope you’re having a more productive week than I am! 😉

Now on to the outfit! Today’s post features this really cool faux fur coat that I stumbled upon while doing some online shopping. This coat is such a wonderful accent piece and it goes well with just about any outfit. Once I spotted it, I had to have it! It comes in two colors and is currently on sale for under $100. I would say that it’s warm but not warm enough for 30 degree or below weather unless you layer under it. The print is what did it for me so I definitely could not pass it up.

I paired it with a ruffle blouse from H&M that unfortunately I wasn’t able to link but it is currently in stores. Also, wearing my favorite skinny pants with ankle zipper, also from H&M and black pumps.
